A project of South Island Table Tennis Club (SITTC), funded by the Government of Canada's New Horizons for Seniors Program
5 Intakes of Free Ping Pong
Each Intake has 10 Free Training Sessions
Every Sunday 2:30 pm-3:30 pm
Limited Players per Intake
No Wait List, First Come-First-Serve
Thanks to the generous support of a "New Horizons" grant, the Silver Paddles Project provided seniors with 10 free one-hour coaching sessions in Table Tennis. This tailored coaching program helped participants:
Develop new table tennis skills
Improve fitness, mobility, and hand-eye coordination
Boost physical and mental well-being
Increase self-confidence through regular play and personalized support
Participation and Outcomes
135 seniors enrolled through South Island Table Tennis Club
15 seniors participated via the Parkinson’s Wellness Society
80 participants completed the program and received certification
28 new members joined SITTC
12 new members joined Silver Threads

Through 18 heartfelt emails, participants shared how the project positively impacted their lives—highlighting improved fitness, social connections, and renewed confidence. This feedback confirms the Silver Paddles Project was a meaningful success for the SITTC community.
